There has been considerable debate on the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) to improve the productivity of plants and animals. On one side of the debate is the USA who argues that GMOs are basically safe and on the other side of the debate are the European Union and other groups that restrict the imports of products enhanced by GMOs into the region. The dispute has reached the WTO.
